Solar Energy Impact On The Future

Irrefutably, solar energy is not only the most abundant power source available on our planet but also the biggest source of renewable energy available. Though it has been tapped for decades as a source of electrical power, the greatest challenge that bedevils the solar energy is how to efficiently and optimally harness its potential. With the current endeavors to curb carbon emissions, significant attention has been turned to solar energy. This is the case because it is deemed the cleanest and most green source of renewable energy. This then begs the question; how will solar energy shape our futures?

That solar energy will influence the future of energy sector is beyond debate. It is the how and the magnitude of that impact that is open to assessment. Most of the regions within the tropics receive more than 300 days of sunshine in a year. The meaning of this is that solar energy readily available to most parts of the world.

In addition to its widespread availability, solar energy is clean, cheap, and relatively easy to tap into it. To convert light into electricity only requires a solar panel and a battery to store the power.

While converting light energy from the sun using photovoltaic cells in the solar panel has been reasonably effective and efficient, storage of this electric power that has been a challenge. Usually, the electrical energy generated is stored by charging a lead-acid battery. In return, this limits the amount of energy storable as well as its capacity. The difficulty in storage has been the main reason why solar energy has been primarily used to for lighting purposes and not for any real and massive industrial purpose.

The basis of current scientific research is in this area. Success in the research will translate into connectivity to the electrical grid for millions of people. Massive connection to the power grid will be true especially in rural regions with undeveloped infrastructure especially in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

Lighting of the countryside will help alleviate poverty levels by increasing trading and business opportunities, like horticultural farming. It will also spur development of social amenities like schools and hospitals. The reason for this will be the readily available energy to run these facilities.

It will also mean a reduction in over-reliance on non-renewable sources of energy. As a result, it will translate to reduced carbon emissions hence a stop or a reversal on global warming.

A reduction in global warming, or its reversal will reduce adverse weather and climate conditions.

Consequently, a return to predictable and favorable weather and climatic patterns will lead to improved agricultural output. As a result, this will substantially reduce the threat of hunger and famines and mean sustainability in the food security of the world.

In summary, solar energy is the key to a more sustainable and self-reliant future. It will be a hallmark of unprecedented of lifestyle evolution, as it will revolutionize industrialization, agriculture, and technology. It will be a new renaissance of modernity.
